Mrs. Katherine S. Smiech (Furman), 94, formerly of Chapman Drive, Amsterdam, New York passed away May 7, 2008 at Mount Loretto Nursing Home.
She was born December 20, 1913 in Amsterdam, New York a daughter of the late Alexander and Stephanie Zadrozny. She was educated locally and was a lifelong area resident.
She was employed by the former Ward Products Company until her retirement. She was also a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church and it's Rosary Society. She was also a member of the St. Michael's Ladies Auxiliary, St. Stanislaus Seniors, St. Casimir's Seniors and the Cranesville Fire Department Auxiliary.
She was married to Albert "George" Furman who died February 18, 1974. She then married Frank Smiech who died December 28, 1987.
She was also predeceased by her son George C. "Skip" Furman who died April 4, 1999.
Survivors include her son Robert L. Furman and his wife Janet, Tribes Hill, New York; four grandchildren, Vickie Bergmann (Bill), Castle Rock, Colorado, Robert L. Furman Jr. (Katherine Smith), Amsterdam, New York, Keith Furman (Teri), Texas and Kim McLean, Saratoga Springs, New York; seven great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Linda Furman, Burnt Hills, New York and sister-in-law, Carmella Zadrozny; cousins also survive.
The funeral will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church Street followed by a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church.
Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008 at the funeral home where the Rosary Society service will be held at 5:15 p.m.
